While in New York, Hatfield went to a swanky furniture store where he spotted a luxe ostrich leather sofa. Inspired by the distinct texture and patterning of the ostrich leather, Hatfield knew he had to bring that look to life in a modern sneaker. He sketched up some ideas, and the Air Safari was born.
